Age: 23
Born: October 18, 1984 in Van Buren, Arkansas
Hometown: Van Buren, Arkansas
WIBF-GBU & WIBC Minimumweight and NABF Flyweight Champion

The future of women’s boxing is already here in 23-year-old Hollie Dunaway, who in a relatively short time has captured four world titles.

Dunaway had no amateur background and began boxing at 18 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She became interested in boxing, feeling that it looked like fun, by watching other females training at the World Class Fitness Center in Fort Smith.

Wendy first turned pro in 2003, getting stopped in the second round against Melissa Shaffer (3-0) in Memphis, Tennessee. Because Hollie didn’t have a promoter, she became a road warrior, fighting her opponents in their backyard, which explains her 3-3 start as a pro and relatively slow development until moving to St. Louis and signing with Rumble Time Promotions in 2007.

Before moving to Missouri, though, Dunaway showed promise, winning the vacant Midwest light flyweight title with a first-round stoppage of Angel Shipps in 2004, and six months later taking the WIBA minimumweight crown with a 10-round decision (98-92, 98-92, 97-95) versus Terri Moss.

Dunaway went overseas to fight German superstar Regina Halmich (46-1-1), who won a 10-round decision in front of hometown fans in defense of her WIBF flyweight belt. Two fights later, Hollie successfully defended her WIBA title when Dee Hamaguchi retired after seven rounds.

In late 2006, Dunaway went overseas again, only this time she won a 10-round split decision in Hungary against Krisztina Belinszky (19-4-2) for the WIBC-GBU mininumweight championship. Hollie extended her win streak to six with an impressive eight-round decision against Wendy Rodriguez (17-2-3).

Back in Germany, Dunaway lost a 10-round split decision (96-94, 94-96, 94-7) to undefeated Julia Sahin (17-0) for the WIBF light flyweight title. Hollie returned home and won an eight-round decision (80-72, 79-73, 78-74) to Mary Ortega (28-3-1) in Missouri. Last September, though, Dunaway dropped a 10-round decision to Carina Moreno (13-1) for the WBC minimumweight crown.

In her last action (January 11, 2008), Dunaway captured the vacant NABF flyweight title with a hard fought 10-round decision (98-92, 98-92, 96-94) angst Sharon Gaines.

Hollie recently moved to Las Vegas where she works fulltime with trainer Paul Tyler. She plans to fight for many years to come, slowly moving up in weight to collect as many world titles as possible, adding to her growing hardware collection.
